Today Passcon is continuing its growth in the masonry industry across every state in the US.   Passcon has become a certified Women Business Enterprise (WBE) with the city of Indianapolis and nationally certified with the Women’s  Business Enterprise National Council ( WBENC ).   There are three types of bricks manufactured. We supply common, face and fire bricks.  Applications and Classifications are also common requirements for your application. Choosing the right type of brick involves considering several factors to ensure they meet your specific needs and aesthetic preferences.
Bricks can be classified into various types based on their composition, manufacturing process, and intended use. Three common types of bricks are:
  1. Common Bricks: These are the most basic and widely used type of bricks. They are typically made from clay and have a rectangular shape. Common bricks are used for general construction purposes and are not necessarily designed for aesthetic appeal. They are often used for load-bearing walls and other structural elements.
  2. Face Bricks: Also known as facing bricks or veneer bricks, these bricks are manufactured with a focus on their appearance. They come in a variety of colors, textures, and sizes, and they are used for the visible face of a wall to enhance its aesthetic appeal. Face bricks are often used in residential and commercial buildings where the appearance of the brickwork is important.
  3. Fire Bricks: Fire bricks, also called refractory bricks, are designed to withstand high temperatures and are used in applications where heat resistance is critical. They are typically made from special clay or other refractory materials and are used in the construction of fireplaces, kilns, furnaces, and other high-temperature environments. Fire bricks have a high resistance to heat and are capable of withstanding intense heat without deforming or breaking.
These are just three common types of bricks, and there are many other specialized brick types used for various construction and industrial purposes, including engineering bricks, pavers, and perforated bricks, among others. The choice of brick type depends on the specific requirements of the project.
  1. Purpose and Application:
    • Determine the purpose of the brick. Are you using it for construction, landscaping, or decorative purposes?
    • Identify where you plan to use the bricks, such as for walls, pathways, driveways, or facades.
  2. Material:
    • Bricks can be made from various materials, including clay, concrete, and stone. Each material has unique properties and aesthetics.
    • Clay bricks are traditional and offer a classic, timeless appearance.
    • Concrete bricks are durable and come in various finishes, including smooth, textured, and split-face.
    • Stone bricks provide a natural and rustic look but can be more expensive.
  3. Size and Shape:
    • Choose the size and shape of bricks that suit your project. Standard brick sizes are typically 2.25 inches by 7.5 inches by 3.75 inches.
    • Some projects may require special shapes or sizes, such as corner bricks or pavers.
